After deploying an image either using Ghost Solution suite or Deployment Solution ,you may see an issue \ntldr missing or corrupted ; This means that your hard drive configuration has changed somehow, or at least the system thinks the config has changed. The NTLDR is used by Windows to boot, I have seen windows user often come across this issue , after performing an imaging task , This is mainly observed in Windows XP and Windows 2003 operating system, This is a Windows issue and not of Ghost imaging. Below are the full error messages that may be seen when the computer is booting. NTLDR is Missing Press any key to restart Boot: Couldn't find NTLDR Please insert another disk NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl Alt Del to Restart NTLDR is an acronym for NT Loader. It is the first file that happens to be loaded during booting after the BIOS booting process has completed its process. Encountering this problem suggests several things: 1. Hard disk (HDD) not properly connected. 2. Operating system missing 3. Corrupted MBR table (probably by a virus, or physical corruption) 4. Corrupted file (ntldr) 5. Corrupted operating system 6. Misconfiguration with the boot.ini file. 7. Floppy disk (FDD) could be in the drive 8. BIOS references wrong drive 9. Wrong jumper settings 10. Loose or Faulty IDE/EIDE hard drive cable. 11. Deleted NTLDR file by user I am providing here different ways by which you may overcome this issue : 1. Make sure your HDD (hard disk) is properly connected. 2. On system boot, go to your BIOS settings and check to ensure there is the option to boot from the driver 3. Check hard driver data cable 4. Make sure the primary drive that contains your operating system is set as the MASTER (check the jumper settings). 5. Recover from this by doing copying the NTLDR file from the windows install CD you also need to copy ntdetect.com 6. Boot machine using Windows installation CD , by pressing R ,choose Repair rather then Continue. Follow the prompts until you Go to the DOS Shell,Log in to the administrator account . At the prompt, type: chkdsk /r and hit enter. This will do a normal chkdsk with the repair option , exit and restart. 7. Check if the system partition is active , if not then you can use Ghost utility Gdisk to active the partition 8. Boot machine using Windows installation CD , by pressing R ,choose Repair rather then Continue. Follow the prompts until you go to the DOS Shell,Log in to the administrator account . At the prompt,Execute command : fixmbr and fixboot, exit and restart ; I have seen this always works for me. :) 9. This will be the last option to reinstall / reimage the machine : you can reinstall the windows system without touching you files. just boot into the xp cd, then keep on continue, then in the select partition windows, press r to repair and then it will reinstall the system files only.
