If the password is compromised then how to reset/change the password on numerous endpoint agents in DLP?

Jan 18, 2012 11:00 AM

In order to address this issue, there are few way to accomplish.  Firstly, if the number of agents has been deployed by using any one of the software distribution tools For Example: Symantec Management Platform (SMP) or Software Management System (SMS) programs or any other vendors then please follow the below steps

  1. Either uninstall the agents with uninstall_agent.bat using the password that was supplied for the uninstall (password).
  2. Reinstall agents with install_agent.bat with a newly created passwordkey/hash.

OR

  1. Upgrade agents to a newer version with upgrade_agent.bat using new passwordkey/hash.
  2. Use the same method to upgrade / uninstall / or install, as used to deploy the agents to begin with.

Hi Aaron,

The only way I think of practically is first delete the manufacture folder from the drive where you have installed and then take a backup of whole registry and delete all the traces of endpoint agents from the registry.

What's the best way to uninstall an agent if the uninstall password is no longer known and therefore cannot be inputted into the uninstall batch file?
