Installing pcAnywhere
- Insert the pcAnywhere CD Rom, if the auto run menu doesn't open then go to the CD ROM and double click the Setup.exe.

- From the Menu that opens select the Install Symantec pcAnywhere link.

- Select the appropriate Install Language, Click OK.

- Click Next on the Welcome screen.

- Select the I accept radio button and click Next

- Enter or update the Customer Information as needed and Click Next

- Select destination and click Next

- Click Next

- Select the appropriate choices for short cuts and click Install

- Click Finish
Create a Host
- Open pcAnywhere
- Under View change the view to Go to Advanced View if you are no already in advanced view.
- From the pcAnywhere Manager menu select Host

- From the File menu select File > New Item > Advanced . . .

- The Host Properties Menu opens select the Settings tab.
- a. Under Host Start up select the Launch with Windows.

- Select the Callers tab.
- Choose pcAnywhere as the authentication type for a local pcAnywhere account.

- Select the New Item icon (looks like a paper with a yellow star)

- The caller's properties window opens and the user name and password are entered here.

- Under the Privileges tab select the Superuser radio button.

- Click OK
- Choose pcAnywhere as the authentication type for a local pcAnywhere account.
- Select the Encryption tab.
- Under the level select pcAnywhere encoding as a minimum, Encryption is a way to make sure that the data sent and received is secure. The higher the levels of encryption the more secure the session, but slower performance can be seen.

- Click OK
- Name the Host appropriately.

- To enable Logging in the main pcAnywhere window select Edit > Preferences

- Navigate to the Event Logging tab
- Click the box to Enable pcAnywhere log generation
- Click the box to Enable Windows Event Viewer Logging

- Click on the Select Events button.

- Select all of the events that are required.
- Click OK
- Click OK
- Double click to launch the host created in Step 9.

- Your Host is now running and ready to be connected to from a remote on your local network.
If you will be connecting to your host from across the internet you will need to forward the pcAnywhere ports (default ports are 5631 TCP and 5632 UDP). For help on setting up port forwarding on your router a good reference is http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_fo...
