This year at ManageFusion Las Vegas, Symantec is offering up more SVS content than ever before! There will be break-out sessions from Symantec experts, hands-on labs, alliance partner sessions and customer case studies -- from introductory level to advanced -- with most of them repeated to accommodate the demand!

In addition to the break-out sessions and labs, you will also have the opportunity to schedule private time with members of the SVS product team. And we have a few other SVS surprises in the works, too! So if you work in an SVS shop, are planning to implement the industry's most flexible application virtualization and streaming technology, or just curious to learn more, this is an event you should not miss.

Editor's Note (27 Mar): Added the Birds of a Feather session and new information for "CM B09 - Best Practices for Implementing Application Virtualization with SVS and SVS Pro". For exact session times and to sign up, registered conference attendees should go here.

Here are the SVS break-outs and labs for ManageFusion Las Vegas so far, listed in order by session ID:

Best Practices: Secure Mobility through Manageable Virtualization

Bob Taylor from HP and Brad Winston from Symantec talk about bringing together multiple virtualization technologies -- presentation, application and system-level -- mixing in some streaming and blades for good measure. Find out how combining technologies under a unified management umbrella can reduce costs and increase business agility at the same time, by optimally servicing the needs of different users: from warm-seat knowledge workers, to the mobile workforce and power-hungry technical workers.

BOF 02 - Birds of a Feather: Software Virtualization Strategy

Introductory (offered once)

Birds of a Feather (BOF) are moderated sessions designed to help you meet peers and exchange ideas about using Altiris products, learn tips and tricks, and network with others. Collaborate with your peers on the tricks and traps of virtualizing applications.

CM B07 - Introduction to Application Virtualization with SVS

Scott Jones, Symantec Product Manager
Ed Chiles, Symantec Principle Systems Engineer
Introductory (offered twice)

Application virtualization is changing the way organizations think about software management. In this session, you will learn about how abstracting applications from the operating system provides greater flexibility for delivery and support of desktop software and client devices as a whole. Find out how it works, how Symantec's solution -- SVS -- differs from the competition, and where application virtualization fits in with your existing IT agenda.
See corresponding lab below.

CM B08 - Introduction to Application Streaming with SVS Pro

Brian Duckering, AppStream Sr. Director of Products and Alliances
Introductory (offered twice)

Application streaming puts the “Pro” in SVS Pro and adds unique abilities and advantages to SVS, including on-demand delivery, license compliance and cost optimization. This session will explore use cases for streaming delivery and rule-based management, and how it fits into a comprehensive Altiris environment. You will learn how to simplify and automate application delivery and management for dynamic environments, OS and hardware migrations, disaster recovery, remote and mobile workforces, virtual desktop environments and more.
See corresponding lab below.

CM B09 - Best Practices for Implementing Application Virtualization with SVS and SVS Pro

Nelson Ruest, Microsoft MVP, Enterprise Solutions
Intermediate (offered twice)

This session will provide guidance for the successful implementation of application virtualization with SVS and application streaming with SVS Pro. Planning considerations will be discussed, include why to do it in the first place, when to do it, and how application virtualization and streaming fit into a larger software management strategy.

CM B16 - Customer Case Study: Optimizing Software Management at University of Utah with SVS

Brad Horrocks, Univ. of Utah Sr. Client Management Professional
Sean Yarger, Symantec Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering
Introductory (offered once)

Discover how one customer migrated from limited use of SoftGrid to enterprise-wide use of SVS to increase speed and reliability of application delivery and minimize maintenance headaches. Includes a discussion of how SVS greatly simplified a major migration from Novell GroupWise to Microsoft Exchange.

CM B27 - Packaging Best Practices for Application Virtualization and Streaming (SVS, Wise)

Heath Doerr, Symantec Sr. Systems Engineer
Scot Curry, Symantec Sr. Systems Engineer
Advanced (offered twice)

This session will discuss the packaging options available when using application virtualization and streaming. The function and use of tools included with SVS, SVS Pro and Wise Package studio will be covered. You will learn optimal approaches for preparing different types of applications to be virtualized and streamed in your environment.
See corresponding lab below.

CM L05 - Introduction to Application Virtualization with SVS Lab

Dale Bethers, Symantec Engineering Manager
Jeremy Hurren, Symantec Principle Software Engineer
Introductory (offered twice)

In this lab, participants gain hands-on experience with the basics of creating, delivering and maintaining Altiris Virtual Software Packages (VSPs) using SVS Admin and Altiris Notification Server.

CM L06 - Introduction to Application Streaming with SVS Pro Lab

Brian Duckering, AppStream Sr. Director of Products and Alliances
Scot Curry, Symantec Sr. Systems Engineer
Introductory (offered once)

This lab will explain and demonstrate the various rules that can be applied to applications, users and groups, to simplify and automate application delivery, license management and license optimization. This lab will also explore the three different types of application packages that can be streamed, and their different behaviors. Exercises will cover uploading of packages, setting of rules and exploration of desired results.

CM L07 - Packaging Best Practices for Application Virtualization and Streaming Lab (SVS, Wise)

Heath Doerr, Symantec Sr. Systems Engineer
Scot Curry, Symantec Sr. Systems Engineer
Advanced (offered once)

Successful implementation of application virtualization starts with good repackaging. In this lab, you will learn how to create and customize optimal, easily-managed Virtual Software Packages with SVS Admin and Wise Package Studio Professional's SetupCapture and Virtual Package Editor tools. Includes coverage of the SVS events system.
Editor's Note: This lab was voted by ManageFusion 07 Orlando attendees as the #1 best session of the whole show! Don't miss it in Vegas!

Very good list of what will be in Vegas.
Also will be there: SVS and SVS pro in terminal server and/or Citrix environments!
SVS on 2X. A very promising technology!
And for whom ever asks me? We will show SVS on a Windows 2008 and Windows Vista 64Bit platform.
