Platform Support for IT Analytics Solution 7.0 and 7.1

Sep 24, 2012 03:45 PM

The IT Analytics User Interface, its reports, pivot tables, and KPIs, are housed within the Symantec Management Platform (SMP), while the data is stored within a SQL Server Database and SQL Server Analysis Services database. Keep in mind that as with SMP, the supported Operating Systems, SQL Versions, and platforms differ between these different components depending on which version you are on (7.0 or 7.1).

Symantec Management Platform Limitations

The Symantec Management Platform v7.0.x can be installed ONLY ON Windows 2003 x86 (32BIT). Neither Windows 2008 nor x64 (64BIT) versions of Windows are supported for the Symantec Management Platform v7.0.x

The Symantec Management Platform 7.1.x supports ONLY Windows 2008 x64 (64BIT). Neither Window 2003 nor x86 (32BIT) versions of Windows are supported for the Symantec Management Platform v7.1.x. Windows 2012 should be supported in the next release of the Symantec Management Platform, version 7.5.

IT Analytics Database Limitations

IT Analytics v7.0.x supports Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (SP3 or later) or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP1 or later). If you are still running the Symantec Management Platform v7.0.x, note that SQL 2008 R2 is NOT SUPPORTED. IT Analytics for the Symantec Management Platform v7.1.x does support Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 versions.

In addition, IT Analytics for Symantec Endpoint Protection requires that the SEP database be implemented using the Microsoft SQL Server database option. The embedded database option is not supported.
