After installation of Notification Server, straight away you will be provided with the below screen, which will be the configuration screen for Notification Server.
This is where you define your User name, Email address (that are used to send those emails that are configured as notification polices), Smtp server (for sending those emails), and more important, the database name for Altiris. By default the database name is Altiris, you can change if you want to, but keep it default that the system provides.
This process usually takes around 30 minutes to complete. After this completion, you can install and configure your solutions by going to Solution Center. It is a must to understand this process if you are planning to deploy Notification Server.
After installation of NS you will be presented with the initial configuration screen. Type in the User name with a password, this account should have administrator privileges.
Provide the above details as per you infrastructure.
- Email address
- SMTP server and port
- From email address and its credentials
Create new database (by default is Altiris)and provide in the account, which will have SQL access.
Click Finish to complete the setup.
It will start configuring NS server.
As you see now in the above screenshot services has been configured.
Very important part now - the database is getting configured. By default the name of database is Altiris.
Now it will install Altiris Console.
Once installed you will be presented with the above screen. Please start the NS services by clicking on Red Cross that is there in the screenshot.
