Reinstall SEPM

Before reinstallation

  1. backup the database
    1. first method: Start-> Run -> Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager-> Database Backup and Restore -> Backup Database
    2. second method: open SEPM console-> Admin -> Servers-> choose on the left panel database account (like <Server_name>\SEPM) and click on Back Up Site Now
    3. backup of database is stored in sepm\data\backup\
  2. backup the certificate:  open SEPM console-> Admin -> Servers-> choose on the left panel server account and click below on Manage Server Cetrificate -> Backup Server Certificate and chose where to save it
  3. if the server name will be changed - Before reinstall need to add new server IP address and /or server name to Management server list

open SEPM console->Policies-> Policy Components-> Management Server Lists choose list with the server name and edit it. Add new server IP address or/and Server name

 

Reinstallation

  1. Install SQL database with SEPM instance
  2. Install SEPM:

  1. Stop Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service
  2. Restore database

Start-> Run -> Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager-> Database Backup and Restore -> Restore Database

  1. Reconfigure SEPM
    1. Run -> Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager-> Management Server Configuration Wizard
    2.  

  1. Restore certificate

open SEPM console-> Admin -> Servers-> choose on the left panel server account and click below on Manage Server Certificate -> Update the Server Certificate and provide the path to the certificate (password is in xml file);

restart SEPM service

  1. If server name was changed - Delete previous server IP/Name from management list

open SEPM console->Policies-> Policy Components-> Management Server Lists choose list with the server name and edit it. Delete Previous server IP address or/and Server name

Nice one, article specifically describe how to reinstall SEPM using SQL database and restoration process of old SQL database.
