WiseUser's picture

Resource Conflict management is the process of minimizing potential software packaging conflicts that can occur and cause workstation crashes, client frustration and significant downtime for the business unit.

This presentation sheds light on how to make the most of the RCM functionality built into Wise Package Studio.

The presentation covers the benefits of Resource Conflict Management, avoiding competing .DLL files, .OCX files, registry entries etc., the methods for importing a package to software manager database, sample reports, conflict levels & types. The presentation will also give you a clear picture on importing packages to the software manager database and how to find conflicts between selected packages. It will show how to Analyze the results and what are the conflict types and levels which we should be concerned.

Help on SOE

I Believe the SOE file was not created properly . When you run the SOE Snapshot it performs the scan of the base machine and prompts for the filename , take the filename and in that location you will see the fil with the extension .soe , it takes some time though .

Once the soe is created , we can import into the software manager database . Can you try once again and let me know how it goes...

SOE creation

Thanks for help

As if now i have no other option then creating SOE again....but i want to tell what i have done:

# initially i took setup capture configuration{AS WE KNOW :Before running SOE Snapshot, run Setup Capture Configuration to create a configuration file with the appropriate settings.}
# then i run SOE tool...while sacnning base machine it prompt for inclusion and exclusion of reg. entries...files...ini files...shortcuts...
# after this it asked me for location nad file name for this soe
#i have done this also...it took complete day for me
# now i have that folder on my machine with soe file size :18.6 MB ,one more thing it created one log file...but there is nothing in that
what to do now??

SOE creation

Once you get the Soe file , try importing the soe snapshot to the software manager database .

1.Right click import

2. Use the second option

"Import a single file into the software Manager
database"

3. Select the folder where the soe file is present.
4. It should take the SOE file without any problems.

Give it a try and let me know.
