This component may be used to associate/assign a barcode value to an asset in the SMP platform. This component differs from the "Set Barcode For Asset By Id Component" in that this component's asset input requires the entire asset complex data type container.
This component does not have any direct output values.
This component must connect to the SMP platform to commit the association. This is most easily accomplished by using a "Create SMP Credentials" component upstream of the "Set Barcode For Asset Component". The default input values (Global.NotificationServer, Global.NSUsesHTTPS, and Global.NSAuthenticationToken) will then be given the values configured in the Workflow Credentials Manager for the default NS connection.
The input value "asset" requires the data type listed in the table above. This data can be obtained by using components upstream such as "Get Resource for SMP" (configured with the Resource Type of "Asset"). The results of these components will be properly structured to present as a valid datatype to the "asset" input of the "Set Barcode" component.
[Name each use case that you include below.]
This component can be used in a workflow intended to be used in a warehouse for receiving purposes. As a new asset comes in and is barcoded, the barcode can be scanned in and set using this component.
