Use case

Identify user roles

Swimlanes may be used to group together the components that implement steps of a process flow that are performed by people filling various roles. For example, you might have a purchase order request flow. There would be component to facilitate creating a purchase order that would be grouped into a "Requester" swimline. Then you'd group another batch of components under a swimlane for "Approvers" that handled the approval steps in the flow. You might have another batch of process components for actually receiving goods that would be grouped under a swimlane labelled "Receiving".
