Symantec Endpoint Encryption

Server less Installation

Version 8.0.0

Server less mode is an option selected during the installation of Symantec Endpoint Encryption Manager Console. Manager console installed in this mode do not communicate with the Symantec endpoint encryption database and generates a client install package. Clients do not attempt to communicate with the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Manager.

Server less mode can be useful in the following situation : -

  • You do not have a large deployment and the additional cost of Symantec Endpoint Encryption database and Symantec Endpoint Encryption Management Server and deemed prohibitive.
  • The Manager Console only needs to send policies out of the Active Directory clients.
  • The Manager Console does not need to run reports
  • You do not have any Symantec  Hard Disk Encryption clients and/or do not need Recover /B or the online One-Time password method.

The following are the steps to perform the server less method installation.

1. Run the Symantec  Endpoint Framework setup file

2. Click Next

3. Accept the license agreement

4. Click Install

5. Select the destination where you want to install the SEE.

6. Deselect the “Use SEE Server” database

7. Create the OTP key

The One-Time Password Key page allows you to create a new One-Time Password (OTP) key or import an existing OTP key.

8. Enter the SEE password.

The Management Password will be encrypted and stored in the Registry of this Manager Computer. Once you click next it will complete the installation.

9. Now run the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Full Disk Edition

10. Accept the license agreement

11. Click Install

12. Click Finish

Now you can login to the SEE Manager Console,  configure the framework and the fulldisk  and run the setup on the client machines. This will be a server less install.

Hi there,

Can I just check that I could use this for a laptop not on our network? If the answer is yes can you point me in the direction of the software? Can you download it through the web interface?

Many Thanks
