Hi All,

Here is the trick to open SEPM or SEP from the run button
we can open few windows applications like cmd, calc, write(word pad) , mspaint and many others directly from run.

The ability to enter a short file name into the Run line to open a program can be extended to any program by putting the folder containing the program executable into the path and I will show you how we can extend that to our SEPM and SEP

We can run few symantec applications like luall.exe ,smc.exe directly from run as these
applications have their entry in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths and hence we can open the
applications from run. Since SEPM or SEP client wont have there executables entries here we need
to add them manually and we just gonna do that.

Accessing SEPM from Run
------------------------
1)Open Registry (start - run -regedit.exe)

2)Navigate to the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths

3)Create a new sub-key with the name of the SEPM Executable file It would name it as SEPM.exe
so the string would look like this

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\SEPM.exe

4)In this new key, add a string variable named "Path" containing the value of the the path to
your SEPM executable folder if SEPM is installed on C drive it would be

C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

5)The new key will already have an empty variable (Default). Edit it to have the string value of
entire address of the SEPM executable if SEPM is installed on C drive it would be

C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin\sesm.bat

6) Thats it, close the registry now.

Now you can open the SEPM console from run.

Click on start - run - type SEPM ( the name of the key we created in Step 3)

You will get the console :)

Accessing SEP from Run
------------------------
The procedure of creating keys gonna remain the same, just the path and the executable file names
would change
The executable responsible from SEP interface is SymCorpUI.exe

1)Open Registry (start - run -regedit.exe)

2)Navigate to the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths

3)Create a new sub-key with the name of the SEP Executable file, I would name it as SEP.exe
so the string would look like this

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\SEP.exe

4)In this new key, add a string variable named "Path" containing the value of the the path to
your SEP executable folder if SEP is installed on C drive it would be

C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection

5)The new key will already have an empty variable (Default). Edit it to have the string value of
entire address of the SEP interface executable(SymCorpUI.exe) if SEP is installed on C drive it
would be

C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\SymCorpUI.exe

all done close the registy

click on start - run -sep

you will have the interface :)

Interesting...Well there is

Interesting...Well there is another way....

You can just copy sesm.bat from SEPM\Bin to system root\system32

Start>Run>sesm.bat

This should do it (unless copying files to the windows directory are not allowed)  :)
