Unable to query machines in DMZ workgroup. Error message: There is no Master Query Engine in the Connection database for user

Jun 25, 2012 06:52 AM

Prerequisites:

  1. Open the relevant ports in DMZ

  2. Install the MQE in DMZ workgroup

  3. Create a Local admin account which should be the same for all DMZ Workgroup machines.

  4. Apply the latest Hotfix on RMS as well as on MQE box which is in DMZ workgroup.

Once the above Prerequisites has been accomplished then follow the below steps on how to add the MQE in connection database.

  1. Launch the CCS Data Collection console.

  2. In the left column, click bv-Control for Windows > Configuration.

  3. Modify the default Connection Database.

  4. Highlight the new MQE(s) at the bottom, then click Add. Verify that the status is "Connected".

  5. Click Save and exit.

Test by firing a query on DMZ workgroup machines if still you see the same error message then follow the below steps to resolve this issue.

  1. Add the ipaddress and host name in MQE box's host file. (Location of host file, C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc)

  2. Key-in the host name in scope tab (Common mistake, usually experts key in IP address which gives exactly the same error message which is misleading)

 OR

  1. Create a scope file (beginning on line 1) using the following format:

    mqemachinename, targetmachinename1

    mqemachinename, targetmachinename2

    Example:

    MQEDMZServer01, DMZServer01

    MQEDMZServer01, DMZServer02

    MQEDMZServer01, DMZWorkstation05
