Ghost users using legacy-style imaging sometimes find that they need to use command line switches to add functionality or to resolve a technical issue that is occurring during an operation that they are running. When using boot media, such as a USB or CD/DVD boot disk, the ghost executable typically loads automatically with either no command line switches applied, or command line switches specified in the boot configuration in the Boot Disk Creator. troubleshooting a Ghost imaging issue often requires trying command line switches. Here is how to try these with existing Ghost boot disks.
1. If the machine is not already booted into the automation environment (WinPE), boot it up to the boot disk.
2. When Ghost launches, close it.
3. You will be at a command prompt. By default, this will be an M:\Ghost prompt since the Boot Disk Creator will launch Ghost from the Deployment share.
Alternately, Ghost maybe be launching from the root of the X: drive. This will be the case if the boot configuration had the Ghost executable added manually.
4. At the prompt, type the name of the Ghost executable plus all command line switches desired, each separated by a single space.
5. Click Enter to launch Ghost with the command line switches applied. Please note that Ghost does not specify which command line switches have been added in the GUI. If unsure, please check the command prompt window.
