Using a SD Card with Barcode Solution 6.7
In order for Barcoder 6.7 to work with an SD card the entire application must be installed onto the card instead of main memory. In our testing we have confirmed that it can be run from the card. The installations steps are included below and will work for both Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5 devices.
On a desktop machine that has the Symantec Altiris Barcoder 6.7 installed do the following:
- Connect the device to install using Active Sync
- Open Active Sync and from the "Tools" menu select "Add/Remove Programs"
- If the device already has Barcoder installed (indicated by a check mark in the checkbox next to Symantec Altiris Barcoder 6.7 in the list) do the following:
a. Uninstall it by unchecking the checkbox next to it and clicking OK
b. Once it has finished uninstalling open Active Sync and select "Tools > Add/Remove Programs" again c. Continue from step 5 - If the following programs are not installed install them to the default installation folder (main device memory):
a. Place a check mark in the checkbox next to each of these programs:- Microsoft .NET CF 2.0
- Microsoft SQL Server Mobile 2005
- Microsoft SQL Server Mobile 2005 [EN]
- Symbol Managed Class Libraries
b. Click OK to install
- Once installation is complete, open Active Sync and select "Tools > Add/Remove Programs" again
- Install Barcoder to the SD Card:
a. Place a check mark in the checkbox next to Symantec Altiris Barcoder 6.7
b. Uncheck "Install program into the default installation folder"
c. Click OK
d. When prompted select "SD Card" or "Storage Card" from the list of storage options and click OK
e. The Barcoder will be installed to the SD Card and can be run via the icon under the Programs list on the device.
Version 7.0 of Barcode Solution has the SD card feature built in. The application will install to the mobile device and you will have the option to store the data on the SD card.
