Since starting to work with Symantec Management Platform 7x, one thing we missed from Notification Server 6x was the web-based Log Viewer.  It was usually more convenient to launch a browser and point to http://<ns>/Altiris/NS/LogView.asp to get a quick and dirty view into the logs.  However, in Symantec Management Platform 7x, that feature appears to be removed. 

After toying around, we found that it was possible to copy the LogView files from your NS6 installation to your SMP7 installation.  If you have your NS6 environment available, simply copy 3 LogView files from your Altiris installation folder (usually X:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\):

• LogView.asp
• LogViewBody.asp
• LogViewHeader.asp

and copy them to your SMP7 server at X:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Web\.

Now you can visit http://<SMP>/Altiris/NS/LogView.asp on the SMP to view the logs.  NOTE: You may have to restart IIS to get the page to display.

FYI, the Diagnostics Log Viewer application installed on the SMP will have more information and should be your go-to viewer most of the time.  However, the web-based viewer is nice when you need to view logs quickly without having to log into the server (if you don't mind looking at the old-styled viewer).  Also, this will be UNSUPPORTED from a support standpoint should anything go wrong.
