What is Required to Ensure Full Functionality of the Task Server’s Site Services?

Nov 30, 2011 06:12 PM

The following sections details what is required on the Notification Server and Site Servers to ensure full functionality of a Task Server’s Site Services. This includes port bindings, DB connections, rights, service logons, communication protocols, ports, etc.

Understanding and meeting these requirements is critical to make tasks work and for having a functioning Task Server.

Notification Server

The Task Server service that is installed on the Notification Server and should not be removed. If you are running Symantec Management Platform version 7.1 of later, using the UI to remove the Task Server service from the Notification Server does not uninstall the Task Server. If you remove the Task Server via the UI it will disable it from responding to client requests and remove it from the Site Services display in the UI. This means that other functions of this Task Server will continue to work. Removal of the Task Server from the Notification Server in any other way is not supported and will cause problems with Task Server communications.
