Where's the Doc? Finding the IT Management Suite 7.1 Documentation

This article explains how you can find the ITMS documentation that you need. It also includes a reference of the most commonly requested 7.1 guides and release notes with the URL addresses for where to get them.

 

UPDATE: Please note that you can find similiar references to our newer versions for both 7.1 SP1 and 7.2 SP2 at the following locations:

To find most Symantec Management Platform and IT Management Suite documentation:

  1. Go to the Symantec Knowledgebase at: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=home
  2. Under Knowledge Base Search, in the Enter keyword or phrase field, enter the name of the guide that you want to find. For example, enter Symantec Management Platform User Guide.
  3. In the Add a product for best results field, enter the product, or the feature set that the guide applies to. For example, enter Management Platform (Formerly known as Notification Server).
  4. Click the search icon.
  5. Under Symantec Suggests, click the title of the article.
  6. Under Attachments, click the .PDF link to download your guide in .PDF format.

Thanks & additional request

I appreciate all the info in your post and have another request as well.

Is it possible to have something similar with a comprehensive list of all the current Altiris beta and release dates.....somewhere all in one place ?

For example, I think Mobile and new Patch are both in beta now and expected to be released in May but I can't really seem to verify that anywhere for certain.

I wish I could navigate to a page that had all Symantecs Documentation in one place and this is as good as it gets.  Always on the look out for new ideas and ways of helping my day to day duties as a Techy and having a repository like this is exactly what I need.

Installation of Altiris Client Management Suite 7.1

Can someone give me a resolution on getting past the "IIS script maps for ASP.Net are missing or

not properly configured" error. I can't get passed it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled IIS, I've ran the  aspnet_iisreg.exe -i command and still stuck..help please...

Do we have to install all components of the Symantec Management Platform above to ensure that Symantec management console is work properly? Thanks

Version 7.1 SP1 of the

Version 7.1 SP1 of the Altiris Patch Management Solution is expected be released soon.

The 7.1 SP1 release of the Patch Management Solution does includes several great new features that have requested by customers, such as expanded support for commonly used third-party Windows applications, support for service packs and non-secuirty related updates from Microsoft, etc. 

This release of the Patch Management Solution is not typical of a service pack release, as it contains substantially more new functionality that that typically found in a service pack. 

The primary reason that this release has not been heavily publicized is because Symantec does not do full product launches for service pack releases from a marketing perspective.  This particular release is flying even a bit more under the radar than a typical service pack release, because it was not released at the same time as the other solutions in Altiris IT Management Suite 7.1.
