Altiris Workflow Solution allows non-technical business professionals to create, change, test, automate and manage the processes that drive your business. From service catalogs to hardware purchasing to tracking purchase orders, Workflow Solution allows you to manage the entire process, both the hardware and human interaction.

Installation:

First, you need the setup files for Altiris Workflow. You can get an evaluation copy from the Altiris website.

After you download the files, double-click the installer. Now choose the installation path and press next. This will start the installation. After the install completes, press finish; see the diagram below.

Now you need to install the Designer for Altiris WorkFlow. You can find it in C:\Program Files\Altiris\Workflow\Web\Agent. Look for the Altiris.Workflow.Designer.Setup.2007.exe file. Run this file. Then click next and agree to the the license. Click next again. Now you will find two options:

  • Altiris WorkFlow Designer
  • Altiris WorkFlow Server

Choose the Altiris WorkFlow Designer option, then press next and choose the installation path. Click next again then click finish.

Note: you Need .Net FrameWork 3 to Run Altiris Workflow.

Introduction:

Now find the Altiris Workflow Designer Icon on your Desktop. Double-click it to launch Designer.

In the window that opens, enter the IP or name of your Notification server (you can enter more than one if you have several).

Then enter the username and password.

Now Altiris WorkFlow Designer will open the main page. From this page you can create a new project or open or delete an existing project.

To create a new project, click the new button. You will see different options (WorkFlow, Decision only, Integration, Monitoring, Forms (web), Forms (Windows)).

In the next lesson we will see what each component means and how it works.

This installation procedure

This installation procedure doesn't make a note of installing Workflow Server or whether you are installing Workflow Designer on the same server as your NS. These are some vital considerations that should be included with this procedure otherwise it will cause headaches for those trying this for the first time that don't have experience with Workflow Solution.
