It would be nice to have a list of known and confirmed bugs that Symantec support knows with a plan to fix it and maybe voting system (like in ideas) that we may vote what should be fixed first. With a bug there should be also ETA for a fix (in what release it will be fixed). Sometimes there is a known problem and even whitepapers available but only for internal use and it would be handy to be able to seek and reference something when calling support (obviously I'm not expecting that some ...

It would be nice if you could select multiple exclude dates by selecting "last day of the month," etc. For instance, I have a job that I want to NOT run on the last day of every month. Right now, I have to go in and individually select each day for the next five years or so, rather than being able to use the same functionality available in the Included dates

It would be better if the netbackup could provide us the option to  rename a policy with the right click....

Add an "include all subdirs" option to broaden the search capabilities of specific parent folders. It might also be helpful to send the search results to a different window to allow easier sorting and selecting.

We regularly notice that jobs can't be cancelled, unless we stop all services on Master and Media servers (BPDOWN) Why can't jobs be cancelled no matter what, when an administrator cancels the job in the Netbackup GUI?

BackupExec  already has a complete alerting system - email, pager, etc, and sends numerous alerts and reports automatically - however it doesn't send any alerts when a backup is missed.  This would be really useful to have as we get alerts for failed backups so why not for missed backups - e.g. no media available.  In our environment a missed backup is a failed backup. Hi, When I take a Manual Backup of a certain policy (to test the policy or a tapedrive or so), this Manual Backup intervenes with the normal schedule. So for instance when I test a backup during they day, it will not run again during its normal schedule at night. I would like to have an ability to test backups that do NOT influence any schedule please :)

It would be nice to have the DST issue repaired so that i won't have to reschedule my backup jobs everytime the time changes!

We have recently used the "fsautility -t" command to unarchive information that we archived in the past three weeks. The unarchival process take in consideration the information on the E.V Database and changes the placeholders with the archived associated but only in the path reference in this Database. When the placeholders have been moved, no changes are made by the "fsautility -t" process and also no warring nor notification is given to the administrator. ...

OK so here is the enhancement i'd like to see in Enterprise Vault. Currently if you are in a dataloss situation where you are missing DVS/DVSSP/DVSCC files and cannot retrieve them from backup, you have to use EVSVR to perform the clean up. However best practice is to run a report through EVSVR as opposed to going straight in and performing a repair. Once the report is done and you determine the extent of the issue, you are then to run a repair, which will be the same as the previous ...

An option to automatically erase tapes (quick or long) when they are moved to the scratch pool would be nice.  This probably wouldn't make sense on a PTL, but for a VTL, it would improve the accuracy of the VTL's status screen, which shows how much data is on each tape.

Currently the NetBackup client check to see if ALL directories are mount points or not, regardless of this setting.  Each check is taking one to two seconds.  That doesn't seem like much, but when you have 25,000 mount points, it adds up REALLY fast. It would be nice, and much more efficient if the check to determine if a directory is a mount point is disabled if the Cross mount points option is enabled.  After all, if NetBackup is supposed to cross the mount point, ...

Starting with BackupExec v12.5, the server will attempt to poll the internet to get a Symantec ThreatCon status.  If there is no internet access, or there's a timeout, every day an alert will result saying "The Symantec ThreatCon Level is not up-to-date". Many of us have servers that do not and will not have internet access, and we don't want or care about ThreatCon.  Every single day we get these nagging messages.  Please make it stop!  In general, no ...

Hello, I have found that this number is indicating the last day a FULL backup has been made. Because we run on SQL2008, our DBA's are performing a full once a week, and then a differential every evening. Logfiles are backed up every 15 minutes (which shows correctly) Is it possible to take differentials in account? It spooked me to see no backups had been made of the databases, but actually wer're save. Thanks Gertjan Alink

I really enjoy the VMWare agent for Backup Exec for Windows.  There is one thing I would like for it to do that it can't.  When you create a backup job for a virtual server it would be nice if you could pick a different vmware esx server host as the destination.  That way the virtual machine can be backed up directly to a machine where the vm can be turned on right away. Thanks, Andy

In a no PST environment it would be great if there was more flexibility for vaulting calendar items. I often found that archiving calendar items is not a great solution where the time to archive is very short (2-4 weeks) or if shortcut deletion is enabled. Since calendar items are typically one of the largest components of a user mailbox in environments where attachments are regularly included on meeting requests it would be great if there was a way to have a seperate policy specific to ...

1.)  You should have the option for offsite copies when you select individual folders/files. Currently, this option is only available when you choose the ‘entire computer’. 2.)  You should have the option for making only offsite copies of your backup, w/o also having to select a local destination. The offsite option is grayed out if you don’t specify a local resource first (USB, network).

Hi, Currently the documentation for Netbackup (And I guess other products as well) is a big mix of Unix/Linux & Windows. It is a big pain to wade through the documentation and filter out stuff that isn't what you are looking for... Why not split all documentation in two? Windows Unix/Linux That way if you grab for instance a Windows PDF, you can be sure that everything in it is relevant for your Operating System. It will make things much clearer and an added advantage is that ...

I have created a custom report for Overall Summary. When the scheduled job runs everyday it sends the report in the email. The format of the report is in .htm format. It would be nice to  be able to select the format type of the report that comes in the email. For example in pdf format. Currently, our blackberries can't open htm files but we can pdf files. would make the management happy.

How about creating a third button, or an additional view for Calendar Items in archive explorer? The view would look like an Outlook calendar folder with month, week and day view options, etc.....as opposed to an email folder like it does now. It should also be intelligent enough to show the appointment on the day of the calendar that matches the START DATE of the appointment...not created date, archived date or anything else.
