If an Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure (AVVI) file system Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) enabled backup of a Virtual Machine (VM) with an Extended Partition containing at least 3 Logical drives is performed, the backup job logs will not show that the 3rd Logical Drive was part of the backup of the virtual system.

When viewing a computer details through Backup Exec System Recovery Management Solution (BESR-MS), the event log description is not available. The following is seen (see Figures 1 & 2 for more details):

Error: <Unknown result name 'ERROR_NUM_TEXT'>

Information: <Unknown result name 'INFO_NUM_TEXT'>

If a Sharepoint Subsite, configured to have Top Link Bar and Quick Launch links inherited from the parent Site, is restored from a GRT backup, the job is successful and the site data will be restored, but the Top Link Bar and Quick Launch links will not be reinstated to the parent Site or the Subsite.

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Numeric value out of range is logged in the CatError.log file in the backup Exec logs directory. This can occur during backups or duplicate

An associated application event log error will also be present on the backup server that may look like the example below.

This issue will not be addressed in Backup Exec 2010 R2.  It is resolved by upgrading to Backup Exec 2010 R3.

Backup of a virtual machine running SQL or Exchange complete with exception "unable to collect the necessary metadata to restore individual application items. You cannot perform GRT-enabled restores of application data from this backup." when a database is in a "restoring or offline" state

New installations of Backup Exec System Recovery Management Solution (BESR-MS) fail with 'A file not found error has occurred...' (Figure 1).

This error appears during the stage where Symantec Installation Manager (SIM) attempts to download the install files.

Restores from Incremental AVVI backups of remote VMWare servers, with DFS data and disks are over 1Tb in size, generate Exceptions and fail with the error '0xe0009744 - At least one directory in the backup set contains items that are not supported by Granular Recovery Technology'.

Restores from Full AVVI backups are successful.
