The AMS & CMS suites are probably the two most widely used combination of products available from Altiris. Once you've been working with them for a while, there comes a time in every boy's life where he needs to start looking under the hood.... Now I'm not talking about the whole birds & the bees thing. You're at the wrong website if you're looking for that information. I'm talking about how AMS & CMS all tie together on the back-end. This article is extremely helpful in painting that picture for you.

It represents each solution and shows the associated & related tables for each. The only drawback here is that the relationship between the tables is not depicted and that is because the Altiris DB is not a true relational DB, its more of a collection of tables that relies on the front-end console & interface to tie them all together. Either way, this is a very good reference when trying to figure out where to pull data from when writing reports. So take this home with you. Chew on it, it's delicious.
