The Anatomy of IT Management Suite 7 (ITMS)

Mar 03, 2010 12:40 PM

I have received a lot of questions about the recent release of IT Management Suite (ITMS) 7.0. Most of the questions revolve around what solutions are included in the suite and how the entitlement works.

So hopefully the information below will clear things up a little.

pcAnywhere Solution 12.5 SP2
Power Scheme Task component 7.0 SP3

CMDB Solution 7.0

Other

Symantec Endpoint Protection Integration Component 7.0 SP1

So is the old days of CMS, SMS, AMS, and TMS now replaced with the OP's items?  I see that Server is rolled into CMS and thier is no TMS.  Is their anything NOT in ITMS?  kinda like TMS (but without workflow since that came out later/seperate)?  And is the 7.1 solution deck the same as well? Is Ghost and PGP and SEP all still seperate?  Thank you in advance for clarifing for me.

I have stopped posting solutions to the forums and blogs. They have the annoying habit of showing up in other people's articles without credit (several of my collegues have had this happen to them as well). Perhaps I will post my own article later.

If you share, perhaps others will have it, and can solve it too.

I am licensed for TMS and i figured out the problem.

Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend downloading an entire suite of this magnitude (much more amusing if you do it with an Admiral Ackbar accent) at the same time. I think if you are licensed, and you can see from this post what you are entitled too, all is well.

I downloaded SIM 7.0.715. The product listing does not include ITMS. Am I missing something?

You are right, you do get a license of CMDB7 when purchasing ServiceDesk 7, but we are talking about ITMS here so you get CMDB anyway.

Hi Andy,

You also receive 1 CMDB license with a Service Desk base license (5 Pack)

Absolutely.

With ITMS you get a full, unrestricted version of Workflow Solution to do with as you please.

If you currently used CMS6 and AMS6 then you would be entitled to upgrade to CMS7 and AMS7 at zero cost should your maintenance be current.

If you were using TMS6 (Total Management Suite) then you could upgrade to ITMS7.

Make sense?

Hi AndyDrew

Very nice overview thanks! What do you mean by Symantec Workflow Solution 7.0 SP2(single license) can I create components for SQL and other stuff with this license?

Cheers
