Recently, major vulnerabilities in Microsoft remote desktop protocol (RDP) is identified and patch by Microsoft is released. These vulnerabilities are categorized as 'critical' by all security forums. All organizations, whether small, medium or large are sensitized and working on patch deployment and/or workaround for fixing the same.

First reaction of any security operations manager, when it comes to audit, is 'oh it's so painful'. And it actually is. Some auditors with no knowledge of the product or appliance, will come to you with approval of your senior and start asking questions (however, he will be polite)

Much awaited Symantec DLP 11.5 is now released. As usual, there are bug fixes of the version lower than 11.5
Among the new feature, there are two which will really help the product grow in all direction.

I have seen administrators of SEP, DLP, SSIM etc to be on Connect invariably. They don't refer to admin guide of SEP, DLP etc as much as they refer to forum, article, download on Connect. Why is that? Why can't Symantec develop admin guide just like the articles on Connect?
I think the answer is simple!

Perimeter security, network security, endpoint security, data loss prevention etc almost covers every aspect of security with respect to infrastructure. Application security, web server security, web services security, DB security etc covers almost all application level security.
