Altiris just announced the release of its latest incarnation of Asset Management Solution. This version includes new features like support for multiple currencies and a plethora of new reports. Read on to learn more.

Overview

Altiris® Asset Management Solution™ software tracks and manages the physical, contractual and financial data associated with the IT assets in your environment throughout their lifecycle—from receiving through disposal. The solution empowers you with a firm understanding of how your IT assets are being used at every point of their lifecycle to help you identify possible cost savings, fulfill compliance initiatives, and justify your business decisions.

Key New Product Features:

  • Altiris Asset Control and Contract Management Solution are now combined and called Asset Management Solution.
  • Receiving Enhancements - Enhanced receiving features designed to let you model the purchasing process from the initial request to the creation of assets and contracts in a logical workflow.
  • Purchase Request Resource Type - A new resource type that allows you request items from catalogs and bundles. The purchase request line items table automatically calculates the total cost of the purchase request.
  • Catalog Resource Types - This new resource type is for third party vendor catalogs designed to be imported with Altiris Connector Solution. Catalogs contain items for consumable, fixed asset, and software items that can be used in receiving type resources including purchase requests and purchase orders.
  • Bundle Resource Type - This enhanced resource type is used to create bundles of items from third party catalogs. Example: You buy a Dell computer, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Create a bundle resource with all of these items to allow these items to easily be ordered together.
  • Stockroom Resource Type - This new resource type is used to track numbers of consumables in stock, and to set the order level and number of catalog items you want to automatically order.
  • Multiple Currency Support - Multiple currencies are now supported in the same database. You can add and convert currencies and exchange rates using the new Currency financial resource type.
  • Cost Management Enhancements - To get a true picture of the total cost of an asset, all contractual costs (lease schedules, software purchases, and so on) and service costs (maintenance, training, and so on) can be tracked to an asset.
  • New Reports - New reports designed to give you access to detailed information around receiving and software license management are now included.
