Automate the deployment of SEP 11 RU6 as managed client into corporate image backup
To All of the Sysadmin out there,
With the most recent release of Symantec End Point Protection client 11 RU6 (11.0.6000.550). Assuming we've got the SEP manager properly installed, we can finally install this application (both SEP client 32 and 64 bit) into our base system SOE (Standard Operating Environment) by copying the SyLink.xml into the SEP installation directory, therefore the newly installed OS will be automatically managed by the manager which can be noticed from the green dot on the system tray.
I've just tested this method on Windows XP Pro. 32 bit and Windows 7 Professional (32-64 bit).
FYI: the SyLink.xml file can be found from the following location C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection
Therefore we can have second alternative to installing the Antivirus Client if somehow the push install failed.
Hope this can be helpful article for all of you.
Cheers,
Albert

I don't understand what you are saying, can you clarify? I have SEP 11 on my image, I delete the sylink.xml file before sysprepping. How does this help me?
