Hi Bijay - you'll need to be more specific about what you are asking for here.  What do you mean, "it may go against Symantec?"

I can't imagine we'd want to block the forums from google search as many people rely on google's search to take them to the forum thread that answers their question.

Hi peter
I want to say that If some one tries to search about symantec antivirus on google it gives pages from forum where lot of threads are there on virus not detected by symantec and poor detection rate of symantec and like this many more  which gives a bad impression on symantec product .

As we are using SEP  this will give bad impresion on the product in our office.

Welcome to the Internet...

You'll find this happens with all products & companies - when you're searching for problems or some type of negative query.

Search for "google can't" - and you'll get lots of results that make Google look bad.

That's just the nature of the Internet.  If our Symantec Connect overlords were to block Google from crawing these forums, you'd still have the negative results, just from some other source.  A lot of people would also miss out on the wealth of knowedge stored here over the years.

Mark this post as the solution, and have good luck for 7 years.
Forget to mark this as the solution, and tomorrow your server will crash.

I use google first.

9 of 10 times i end up going to the forums, but i find it easy to start my searches from google, especially with the last iteration of the forums, it provided better hits than searching within the forum.  my .02.

You can probably find a way to exclude sites from your personal searches.  If its that important to you.

Good luck.

If you want to exclude a

If you want to exclude a domain from your search results in Google, just use the following:

"my search term" -site:symantec.com

This will exclude all results from any Symantec.com site.
