CMDB 7 Beta Released

Start your downloads.  If you are a part of the Beta Team you should see CMDB 7 as a part of the available products to download and start testing.

From the email to start beta testing:

We are pleased to announce the beta release of Altiris CMDB 7. Registration for the CMDB 7 beta may be found under the profile tab of the beta portal. We anticipate the beta cycle to run approximately 8 weeks. We look forward to working with you to improve the product toward release.
There are a number of new features with CMDB 7 built on the Symantec Management Platform. The following features have been added or improved:
Reporting
– Many reports have been rewritten using the new 7.0 reporting engine
– The rest of the reports are available in a legacy mode
Portals in the console
– Customize your own view with web parts
– Tree view of resources by type is still available
– Multiple ways to get to resources; either through the Manage or Home menus
Resource edit page configurable
– There are no tab any longer
– The information and links, previously shown on the Summary tab, have been moved to the Resource Manager
– The order of data classes defaults to alphabetic order
– Custom filters can be defined to set the order of the data classes as well as hide any that are not required
– Filters can be personal to the console user or shared globally
Resource association diagram
– Show multiple levels at one time – configurable on each diagram
– Filter resource types or associations
– View as a tree hierarchy, radial or free form
– Click and drag to reposition resources in the diagram
Automatic organizational groups – if a resource has a location, cost center, department or user defined, the resource will automatically be added to the matching organizational groups
– Assets by Location
– Assets by Cost Center
– Users by Department
– Users by Location
