A big Hi to the Attendees of the SAMG Customer Forum in March 2012!

Thank you for attending my session on "Intelligent Monitoring Framework (IMF) – Smarter Availability" and rating it to be the BEST amongst all the Engineering sessions. I thoroughly enjoyed presenting this topic to you and it seems from the various feedback comments that you enjoyed my session too.

Attached is a PDF copy of my presentation for your perusal and given below is the link to the Easy IMF Plugin to make a VCS customer agent IMF enabled, that I described during the talk:

I hope this session helped you understand both the black-box workings of the Intelligent and Asynchronous Monitoring Framework in VCS and also its inner workings. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to me or any of the VCS product managers on Symantec Connect.

Looking forward to meeting you again sometime soon!

Regards,

Bhavin Thaker.

Last week we received an email from one of the attendees of the IMF (Intelligent Monitoring Framework) presentation at the Customer Forum, who apprised us of their company's decision to implement IMF in their environment based on the information they learned at the Customer Forum 2012.

The attendee championed the cause internally within their company and sent us appreciation on how the Customer Forum helped them get educated about this new feature in VCS (Veritas Cluster Server).

If you are a customer of VCS and are currently using IMF or planning to do so, we would be interested in hearing from you -- about your experiences, deployments, etc.

Latest IMF changes in SFHA 6.0.1:

Check out the IMF support added to the Diskgroup agent in SFHA (VCS) 6.0.1. This IMF support will be useful for customer environments that have large number of diskgroups and would like to save on the monitoring load. It will also help in having instantaneous notification of faults so that the failover time is drastically reduced, thereby improving High-Availability of mission-critical systems.

Given below is the latest, comprehensive list of VCS agents supported by IMF:

Additionally, check out the new Open IMF architecture in this release (more details in the VCS Release Notes and VCS Administrator's Guide). OpenIMF allows you to integrate any user-level notifications with the existing IMF infrastructure of VCS such that you can write an agent for it without having to implement the asynchronous notification infrastructure. If you can think of an innovative way to utilize the OpenIMF framework, we could be interested in hearing from you.
