Deploying the Daylight Saving Patch

Here is the step-by-step method I used to deploy the Microsft DST patch. It worked really well (and we continue to use this as a model for current and future deployments). I thought it would be a worthwhile example to share with the community.

  1. Copy the DST patch files to the Express share on the Altiris server.
  2. Create a job to distribute the DST update files - if you have both Windows 2000 and Windows XP, you can do both from on push. You can setup a condition. I set condition to look for anything with an OS of Windows 2000.
  3. In your Windows 2000 condition, add a job that copies the DST for Windows 2000 to the C: drive of the local computers. I made my destination path C:\DST Change\2000 sp4. Then add a run Script.
  4. In your default condition that will be for Windows XP, setup in distribute software job.

Hope this helps everyone out there. It really worked well for me.

Thanks
Curt
