Did You Get the Security Memo? Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 EOSL

Dec 01, 2014 01:43 PM

Do you still have Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 in your environment?

On January 5th, 2015, Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.x and Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.0 will reach End-of-Support-Life and no longer be entitled to support, LiveUpdate, virus definitions and security updates. To remain protected, ensure all of your endpoints have been migrated to version 12.1 and activate the advanced protection available through Insight reputation scoring and SONAR behavioral monitoring. Endpoints that continue to run Endpoint Protection 11.x and SBE 12.0 after End-of-Support Life (EOSL) will no longer receive virus definitions, content updates, break fixes, patches, workarounds or technical support

The clock is ticking. You have 30 days to begin migration to version 12.1 and open a Support Case with Symantec. The initial EOSL was scheduled for January 2014 and was extended to January 2015. No further extensions will be provided. For more details, check out the Knowledge Base Article Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.x End of Support Life.

The majority of Endpoint Protection customers experienced a seamless migration to version 12.1 and started seeing the benefits of more advanced protection, faster performance and a better management experience.

Hi Harry-

Per the KB mentioned in the blog, SEP 11 clients may receive untested definitions via the 12.1 SEPM for a few additional months. However, they will not be available via LiveUpdate or SEPM 11 and should be considered a last resort while completing migration.

Correct.

so SEP 11 clients will NOT be getting definition updates?
