Endpoint Protection Install Experiences
Created: 26 Mar 2009 | 2 comments
Having recently deployed Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 to the rest of the company, I'm happy to report that the experiences have been quite favorable on both Windows XP, Vista and Server 2003.
If upgrading from Norton Anti-Virus Corporate, make sure to completely remove that software before the install. Also, you may need to delete the Extend.dat file located in the user profile to reset the Outlook add-in for NAV Corp.
I'll keep posting about my experiences regarding the rest of the deployment.

I'd like to hear more
Hey I just posted a request for info about problems I'm experiencing installing SEP on a bunch of machines. Have you run into the installer just failing with no errors or helpful info?
I've got quite a few machines which won't take the pushed update and working around that is turning into a real pain.
I'd love some advice on how to get the problem children fixed without turning triple backflips. It may just be easier to re-image but I'd like to know a way around this.

RE: I'd like to hear more
Paul, I have had some issues with the pushed install. I've noticed that if there are pending Windows Updates or a pending restart related to Windows Updates, the SEP install will fail. If you install all pending Windows Updates then restart the PC, the install should work.
