Migrated from Trend Micro Office Scan

Trend Micro Office Scan is no doubt a good product in the antivirus field and I think it is the main competitor of Symantec. However, being an Technical Support Engineer I suggested and implemented TrendMicro OfficeScan in one of our clients place. They have 200 user network scattered all over India. It was working fine but suddenly a virus outbreak occurred and their major production servers gone for a toss. I tried my level best to solve the problem but unable to do so with that particular product and came to a conclusion that due to some internal attack this problme happened. By that time I heard about Symantec Endpoint's beautiful firewall as well as device control features and as a testing purpose I implemented SEP with device control features and blocked Pen Drive, CD ROM in client machines. SEP worked very well in terms of virus cleaning as well as easy deployment of device control feature. With proper updated patch I scanned all computers with SEP and magically all the  problems related to virus solved and the company decided to go for Symantec Endpoitn Protection (SEP). I deployed SEP in the production environment finally and now the System Administrator of the company has a sweet dream for all nights.

Do you expect customer's

Do you expect customer's response to be publishes, or technical details to be published?

I have seen in one of the post for the contest, I have been awarded on 250 points instead of 1000. So getting an answer to the above question is imperative.

I still feel that if you say it's a 1000 points, it should be 1000 points. I do not where to post this grivence, so i have posted it here and there. :(

Tejas! I believe the article

Tejas!

I believe the article you submitted was for the "Tell your migration story contest" and not the "Stop Buying Storage contest". Either way, I believe that all the users who post content to this contest would be granted the regular points initially and after the campaign team's approval, we provide the entire bonus points to them. So, I shall work on your case and keep you posted.

BTW, could you please explain your question in detail.."Do you expect customer's response to be publishes, or technical details to be published?"

Thanks,
Swathi

We are 100% Symantec AV since

We are 100% Symantec AV since the time i got here... Sad to say I could not join this contest but just to let you all know that the last company I had worked for (Financial Institution) used CA products for AV and were in deep trouble when they were attacked by the conflicker worm last April 1st.  I told them to use Symantec. Good thing we have updated our definitions. Good thing we used Symantec!!!

You can still enter the contest

You can stil enter the contest by writing an article about why you changed to symantec and what were uour considerations to choose. Did you evaluate other products to find your best solution etc.

RE: Tell Your Migration Story Contests

Hi Leslie,

I submitted an entry about 12 days ago. It's entitled "How I Came To Love Altiris Deployment Solution". I haven't heard anything back, it's still in a "Pending" state. Can you explain?

Thanks!!

Andrew is not the only one

One of my articles for the security contest is published 11 day's ago and also still pending.
Strange thing is that users can see the article and comment on it. In earliers day's that was not possible.
But after 11 day's the article is still pending.

Since I started the

Since I started the IT Industry I have been exposed to Symantec and Norton as the two giants fighting for the position of the best anti Virus but I can proudly say in terms of quality and assurance for the data on your hardrive Symantec is really great in preventing and almost making the system virus free. I have worked with American Technologies Inc. and Lamco International and they are both distributors of the anti virus and made me realize that this product is sellable and definitely there must be something in it that makes people but it. My company right now which is EGS beleives in the product and even has onsite support for it.

Depends on

It depends on the weight and the criticallity of your article. If they find it useful and truthful enough they will grade it accordingly.
Be patient enough a lot of tech guys out here have posted their articles as well, symantec guys need to validated each of it.

Thanks,
