Enterprise Vault 10.0.1 Unified Client
The Enterprise Vault 10.0.1 Unified Client delivers many much-needed changes to the Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-in end-user experience. If you can think back to Enterprise Vault 9.0.1, when support was first added for Microsoft Outlook 2010, you’ll remember that there were a few key things that were missing.
The missing things in the Outlook 2010 incarnation of the Outlook Add-in included things like :
- Being able to manually archive and modify retention category, destination archive and so on.
- The ability to see Enterprise Vault properties when looking at Outlook folder properties – to see things like the retention category and so on.
- An end-user can’t archive a whole folder
- An end-user can’t forward multiple shortcuts and get the items retrieved and added to the new message.
These missing pieces lead to some end-user confusion, I think. They were getting different experiences from client to client, and that can’t be good.
The Outlook Add-in which ships with Enterprise Vault 10.0.1 aims to correct this by drawing all those features back in to the Add-in, and, simplifying things by only having one Add-in. There is no longer the HTTP Add-in and the DCOM Add-in.. just one MSI file to run.
For all the components in the new Add-in to work properly there is a server side hotfix which is needed.

Note: Things will still work without the hotfix, you just don’t get ‘everything’, eg no folder properties dialog.
