** Update

Enterprise Vault 10.0.3 is available from today. See announcement here: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/enterprise-vault-1003-reaches-general-availability

----------------------------------------------------------

Microsoft have announced RTM for both Exchange Server 2013 and Office 2013.

With volume licensing customers able to download and install these products by mid-November the next step for any Enterprise Vault customer is to determine when Enterprise Vault will support these releases. So to that point:

  • Exchange Server 2013 and Office 2013 will both be supported with a 10.0.3 release early next year (planned January 2013).

As with all new major version releases like this we want to ensure that the software is fully tested against the final RTM builds. These tests can always throw a last minute spanner in the works however all things being the same the above will hold true.

We'll be releasing more information nearer to the 10.0.3 ship dates however you should expect all the same levels of support for these products as with previous Microsoft releases.

If you are adopting Exchange Server 2013 or Office 2013 over the next few months I would love to hear your deployments plans - alex_brown@symantec.com

Given that the format of the Exchage 2013 journal message is identical to that for Exchage 2007/2010, will you be supporting a scenario whereby Exchange 2013 mail is journaled to an Exchange 2007/2010 journal mailbox with prior versions of EV?

At the moment we don't plan to support site mailboxes in the 10.0.3 release later this year. This is something we are considering for a future release however.

Is there any information about Backup Exec support for Exchange 2013? Or is this totally wrong place to ask? :)

Anyway, we are a Microsoft partner so we are going to deploy Exchange 2013 in internal production use as soon as possible. But, we need Backup Exec support first for production use, until that we are only limited to lab use of the product..

In my opinion you should create a new topic in the Backup Exec forum.  Link below:

Will EV support Microsoft Surface RT which has MS Office 2013 pre-installed, currently EV does not support any hand-held devices.

Surface RT doesn't support Outlook ... so I don't think there is much point in making an EV Add-in ....

The Office 2013 that comes on a Surface RT has several missing pieces, Outlook being the biggest one.

Many Thanks,

Rob

Thanks for this. I'm intrigued as 10.0.2 can't be installed against Office 2013 as far as I know.

Did you upgrade your office version in-place? Was the EV client already installed during this process?

Yep you can install ... even on top of a fresh install.

I have Office 2013, fresh, with EV 10.0.2 on top.  Have toolbar in Outlook, can retrieve archived items...

Many Thanks,

Rob

I have a fresh install of Win8 64Bits / Office 2013. I installed the EV client and it does not show anything in Outlook, so I can't retrieve archived items. I see the icons but that's all.
Your installation was on Office 2013 / Win 8?. Could you provide us more details?.
Thanks in advance,
Luis

Luis.....

Just want to say this... Following term are very different to each other.....Possibility and supported method

with Rob it was possible however from Symantec it yet to hear on Official support matrix hence it may work or may be not. Same case is with you, it works but to be unfortunate in partial mode ;-)

It happened with me too. on Windows 7 with O2013 i was able to use EV 9.0.2 addin on top of that with out any issues.....

Would suggest better to wait till we get official hearing on support matrix with 10.0.3 or EV 11 (whichever is coming soon ) ;-)

 Cheers !!!

The following combination functions… mostly.

This was an inplace upgrade from Office 2010 running EV 10.0.1.

I uninstalled both of those before installing the newer versions of each.

The add-in is visable in the ribbon and the archive can be accessed through the ribbon.

VERSION INFORMATION
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
Outlook Microsoft Outlook 15, 32-bit (15.0.0.4420)
Internet Explorer 8.0.7601.17514
Enterprise Vault Add-in 10.0.2.1112 (Light functionality enabled)
VBScript component (Outlvbs.dll) Available

The down fall is when you try to access the archive through the data file shortcut located in the left-hand pane of the Mail – Home tab.
It pops with:

The set of folders cannot be opened. An unexpected error has occurred.
MAPI was unable to load the information service EVMSP.DLL. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured.

I haven’t had time to play with the functionality of my rules that push older emails from my in box into the vault yet. I wanted to see if I could find a work around for the error first. Any idea?

Thanks,

-Will-

Hi Alex,

As per compatibility guide release on 18th jan 2013 given that outlook 2013 support by EV 10.0.3.

As per enviroment, Our EV 9.0.4 is archiving the Exchnage 2010.

if we deployed EV client 10.0.3 in the place of EV client 9.0.4.

Will EV client 10.0.3 support outlook 2013 with Windows 8 OS and work with EV Sever 9.0.4. ?

What is work around and solution so that out EV Server 9.0.4 start to support outlook 2013 ?

I have raised the query in support forum and symantec techincal support but not get reply.

Yes a 10.0.3 client and a 9.0.4 server combination will work just fine.

The 10.0.3 client supports both Windows 8 and Outlook 2013.

So you will be fine.

Hi Alex,

We're using EV 9.0.1 and are going to deploy outlook 2013. Will the combination EV server 9.0.1 vs EV client 10.0.3 work on outlook 2013?

Thanks in advance.

Yes that combination will work fine providing you have the following hotfix installed on your EV 9.0.1 servers: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH175939

Hi Alex,

We are using EV Server 10.0.0 and in other site EV Server 10.0.1 ; clients are using Outlook Add-In from 10.0.1 version in both site, PCs with Windows 7 and Office 2010, this is working fine.

Now i need upgrade clients to Outlook 2013.

Can I use Outlook Add-In from EV 10.0.3 without problems? o must be upgrade EV Server to 10.0.3 version.

Morever , if this add-in 10.0.3 work without problems ; i need uninstall previous Add-in or only to do a ugprade in place.

Thanks in advance.

The EV 10.0.3 Outlook Add-in will work with any 9.x or 10.x EV server backend - therefore you will be fine.

An in-place upgrade should be fine.
