** Added 1st August **

Final update.

The hotfix referenced below is now available for download via the link below: http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC6602

The good news is that we pulled in CU2 support as well. Therefore this EV 10.0.4 hotfix will provide support for archiving from all Exchange 2013 environments, native or mixed mode.

**Added 29th July **

Support for Exchange 2013 original release and CU1 running in mixed mode is coming this week.

It will require EV 10.0.4 and a new server-side hotfix which will be released by end of this week (week commencing 29th July). I'll update this blog once this hotfix is available.

Support for Exchange 2013 CU2 in both native and mixed mode will follow and be available by mid-August. More details on this to follow.

Due to lots of questions recently I wanted to clarify Enterprise Vault support for Exchange Server 2013 CU1:
  • Enterprise Vault 10.0.3 or later supports Exchange Server 2013 CU1 in native mode only. This means that only Exchange Server 2013 servers exist in the Exchange organisation.
  • Enterprise Vault 10.0.3 or later does not yet support Exchange Server 2013 CU1 in a mixed mode environment. This means that Exchange 2007 or 2010 servers also exist in the Exchange organisation.

We are working on mixed mode support for CU1 however there are some technical challenges which we are working through with Microsoft. We anticipate being able to support CU1 in mixed mode in the coming weeks and this blog will be updated once more is known around these timescales.

It is worth noting that with Exchange 2013 CU2 currently in TAP we do not anticipate future Exchange CU’s requiring this kind of effort to support however as with every Exchange release our extensive testing regime ensures we catch these issues early rather than in customers production environments. CU1 is unique in that it has modified how partner solutions, such as Enterprise Vault, must connect to end-users mailboxes and this is what we are working through with Microsoft.

Once again, we’ll post back here once we have firm timescales for CU1 in mixed mode support. In the meantime feel free to reach out to me either privately or on the comments section of this blog with questions/concerns.

By the way, this same information is also available in the following technote: http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC6602

Note - I've been asked whether upgrading the Exchange 2013 organisation to native mode from mixed mode will enable EV to support archiving from CU1 servers. The answer is no. An upgraded native mode organisation exhibits the same issues as a mixed mode org.

Only a fresh, native mode installation of Exchange 2013 CU1 is currently supported. The mixed mode upgraded to native mode will be supported with the work described above.
