Forrester Research has just forecast $211 billion in online retail and travel sales in 2006. The continued growth in this forecast matches the direct impression that I have been getting, along with other industry watchers I know. One thing that's interesting is that the Forrester numbers in part owe themselves to "higher conversion rates." It's clear that online businesses are getting smarter about maximizing the value of a site visitor, which is part owes itself to converting more of those visitors into sales. I've written in the past about the research indicating that premium online security brands will increase Web sales and the VeriSign Secured Seal's role in that. I've also written about how we can expect High Assurance SSL Certificates to help maximize online consumer confidence.
