Getting rid of IE 6?

Jul 24, 2009 03:44 PM

I ran across this funny site, http://hey-it.com/, that is all about trying to convince IT shops to get rid of IE6. That's great and all, because we would definitely love to. But, we have many applications that the vendor does not support a newer IE version, let alone another browser.

Is anybody else in this position where they can't get rid of IE6 yet?

(by the way Connect admins, it's hard to choose a 'product' check-box for creating a blog post about something like this that isn't strictly related to a Symantec product)

We have been stuck for a bit as well due some older provincial applications and custom vendor apps.  All but a couple will be resolved in a few weeks then we upgrade all but a handful of users.  Easier to manage in our Citrix environment but not all of these apps can be virtualized.

One of the biggest hurdles is just getting folks folks to commit the time to testing...aspecially when there are just under 300 apps.

Until recently we've been stuck due to some Oracle Applications.  We're resolving that now and upgrading soonish.

Good point about the product check box George... sometime there isn't a product that applies. Hidden deep in the product list you will find two options "General Symantec" and "Symantec Connect". But please choose a product whenever possible because that is how Connect sorts content!
