Please find below the most frequently asked GSS 3.0 technical questions:
Q: Could I run my current DS 6.9 SP6 and GSS 3.0 Beta on the same network / vlan? What about on the same server?
A: As both products are based on the same core they will not run on the same server. You can run them both on the same network but one PXE server can be set to respond.

Q: Will it allow the creation for inventory reports ?
A: GSS 3.0 has a high level inventory function but currently does not run any reports.

Q: Could I run my current DS 6.9 SP6 and GSS 3.0 Beta on the same network / vlan? What about on the same server?
A: As both products are based on the same core they will not run on the same server. You can run them both on the same network but one PXE server can be set to respond.

Q: How many clients can the SQL Express 2014 handle and support?
A: We don’t have a hard number for this yet, we are currently testing. We would be surprised if it could not handle 500 machines, but again, we need to test.

Q: Currently, when we try to delete a computer in GSS 2.5 and that computer is part of a task we cannot delete it ...but we don't know what task it is related to .... is this better with 3.0?  Will it just delete the computer or tell us the associated task
A: Yes, computers can be easily deleted.

Q: is there a plan to allow the share to be on a separate drive from the software install?
A: Managing shares in different locations can be implemented in a few different ways. You can edit the path field in a deployment job to be any location you wish. Also, additional drive locations can be mapped as part of the preboot build process.

Q: Can the GSS share reside on the same share as WDS Deployment share?
A: The GSS install will create the deployment share during install, this must not conflict with any other share on the server. You can map an additional drive to any share you wish however.

Q: I missed that why is winpe not included in the pxe boot options by default?
A: This is because Microsoft changed the WinPE distribution rights so it can no longer be bundled.

Q: There is a known issue with installing embedded automation partitions on XP machines (when trying to install the partition an error of "not a valid Win 32 app" occurs. Has this been addressed/Fixed? This is critical for us since we have many XP machines.
A: This is fixed in HF1.

Q: Does the sysprep process also remove SCCM GUIDs?
A: Not by default.

Q: Does DeployAnywhere now work for 2012 & win 8?
A: Yes it does.

Q: In script  OS install task u have selected xml file.. for what  purpose it is there
A: I believe you mean the answer file that allows values are pre-populated during the install. This means the full OS install can be done without any end user interaction. Microsoft publish a huge amount of literature on it, just search the web for unattended windows install.

Q: what if you have SEP installed on the image will this reset the UID's?
A: Not automatically, but you can just run the official tool to remove the GUID as a job after the OS install. Find it here: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.HOWTO54...

Q: When I try to click Internet to add drivers it fails to connect to www.altiris.com. Is there a different URL?
A: This was highlighted as a bug and is being fixed. The best option for drivers today is to grab them directly from the vendor. I'm in discussions about how we can revolutionize the way we provide drivers. I think it's a key problem to solve.‑

Q: Is RDP available on the boot disk?  It's sometimes handy to RDP to the server from the client. If I am in the middle of my lab and want to kick off the imaging, it is handy to be able to go to one of the clients and RDP into the server so I can send the image out.
A: We don't add it to WinPE by default as there is a licensing issue with doing that as WinPE is intended for preboot administration only.
