My eTail East track presentation on security as a driver of online transactions was a big success. There were so many people in the room that the conference staff had to go out and round up some more chairs. As always we had a lively discussion and great interest after the speech.
We followed up wtih a by-invitation lunch with the online sales leaders of about twenty-five lighthouse e-commerce sites. We broke into four groups, each of which chose a topic to workshop and then read out to the rest. They were:
- Paid search and SEO
- Online security as a sales enabler (inspired by the previous speech)
- Optimizing the value of your confirmation page
- Social networking
as a sales, brand, and awareness driver
It was a nice session, and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
Next week I'm off to HostingCon in Washington D.C., where fellow VeriSign blogger Bob Angus will be presenting on best practices for online certificate resellers.
[8/7/09 update] I forgot to mention that Vib Prasad of 1-800-FLOWERS joined me impromptu to discuss how 1-800-FLOWERS perceived and was using EV SSL. It was useful real-world input for the attendees. I hope we can get a more persistent version of Vib's comments on the Web somewhere so that I can pass it along to you.
