Have it Your Way – Choice is the Future of Data Protection and Security for SMBs

May 04, 2011 12:09 PM

As an SMB, you face any number of challenges when it comes to data protection and security—unrelenting data growth, new risks from the mobile devices being used by your employees, plus you’re increasingly the target of cybercrime. At Symantec, our goal is to provide our customers with market-leading solutions and delivery options that not only meet your technology needs but also fit your budget.

At this week’s Symantec Vision User Conference, we made several announcements that will help SMBs.

Software, Appliance or Backup to the Cloud?

Symantec unveiled a new approach to help SMBs protect their information via new delivery models. Organizations can now leverage the benefits of backup from Symantec as software, as a cloud service, or as an appliance. New Backup Exec appliances and Backup Exec.cloud are designed specifically for smaller companies that may not have IT staff to manage, buy and build backup technology solutions themselves. We also enhanced Backup Exec 2010 software to deliver improved virtualization backup performance and a new security layer.

Endpoint Security Made Easy for SMBs

As I mentioned earlier, we know that cybercriminals are increasingly targeting small businesses. Today, Symantec announced that we’ve opened the public beta program for Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12, which helps SMBs detect and block sophisticated new threats earlier, more accurately, and with greater performance than any other security product.

It is designed to protect you like an enterprise but treat you like a small business when it comes to installation and ease of use. Companies that participated in our private beta are already seeing results. But don’t just take my word for it; see what our customers told us about SEP Small Business Edition.

We are acutely aware of the challenges that SMBs face. With the additional delivery models for Backup Exec and the opening of the public beta for SEP Small Business Edition, Symantec is trying to make it easier than ever for SMBs to effectively secure and manage their information.
