How to disable browser ballot screen in Windows
If you live in Europe, starting from March there is a mandatory browser choice (further details available in links listed below). In case you prefer your Microsoft Internet Explorer, you can disable or block this browser choice. Helpful information can be found in the Microsoft article "Information about the Browser Choice update for system administrators who are in managed environments that are under a Volume Licensing program" .
In this article published by Microsoft there is an easy way to disable this choice :
- Open Registry Editor by typing regedit in the Run box (Start Menu > Run)
- Navigate to the following Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\BrowserChoice
- Create a new entry by right-clicking on the right pane and choosing “New DWORD”
- Name it “Enable“ and set the value to 0. This will stop displaying the Browser Choice screen. If you want to revert back, set this value to 1.

- Microsoft Windows XP Professional
- Windows Vista Enterprise
- Windows 7 Professional
- Windows Vista Business
- Windows 7 Ultimate
- Windows 7 Enterprise
