How to Restart a Windows 2007 Office Suite Setup Previously Interrupted
Sometimes it happens. Scenario: During a Windows Office 2007 installation someone thought to shutdown the computer. In this case when you start again the Office 2007 installation, you will see a generic error and the setup will not continue.
I found an article that mentioned a Microsoft Knowledge Base with explained the error and the simple resolution. You have only to delete the rgstrtn.lck file!
In the Knowledge Base article, The 2007 Office suite Setup program will not restart after an initial installation is interrupted there is a detaileddescription with the cause and the workaround about this issue.
In case of some kind of issue and before send a new installation package on the computer, better read this KB srticle, delete the file and go ahead with the ususal installation.

Just a quick question,
Just a quick question, wouldn't it be much more efficient and simpler to just uninstall and reinstall? You might even be able to just repair the installation and have a fresh copy installed. Or is there a certain scenario which requires the deleting of the file "rgstrtn.lck"?
Sometime happens
That's true, the usual tip is uninstall and install again. But sometime happens that is impossible to perform succesfully this way due to different issues.
For my side, it happened one time when the user blocked the remote installation and shutdown the computer. When pc started, the rgstrtn.lck was still there and the uninstall job didn't started. I had to manually remove this file.

Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Try the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. I think that's what we use when we have a botched Office install.
