Howto check Netbackup Tape Drive status and generate a email alert once any drive down

Today we will discuss how to generate an email for status if our Tape Drive may down. We may have seen that we can get the status via email regarding our Backups of Veritas Netbackup but what if our Tape Drive may down. 

Through getting the status email for our Tape Drive we can save our down time. So today we will see how can we decrease the down time of Backups as much as we can. 

Environment

Netbackup Server 7.1

OS of Netbackup Server = Win2008

Procedure

There may be many ways of doing this but through the below step by step procedure we will configure the Event Viewer so that we can get the Email regarding the Tape Drive errors which are being printed in it(Event Viewer)

 

1. Open the Control Panel (Classic View) and click on the Administrative Tools icon and click on Event Viewer.

2. Click on Attach Task To This Event as shown in the below snap (In the middle pane, click on the type of Event for that log's name that you want an E-mail ).

 

 

3. Then write the name of your task and click NEXT.

4. Then select Send an email in the Action window and click NEXT

5.Now specify the email address in the TO box in Send an Email window so that you will get the email on this address.
