The Importance of Registering Symantec Products Bought from Retail Stores (Box Products)
If you have purchased a Symantec product from a retail store (we call this as Box product), it is very important that you register this in the License Portal (https://licensing.symantec.com). Symantec will never know to whom or to what company it has been sold to unless you register it. It will be a big problem if you didn't register and you lost your certificate. It will be very difficult for us to track the record for that Box product that you bought.
If, for example, you lost your CD for SEP 11.0 and you need to get a copy of that, since we can't find a record that you own the product, Customer Care will not provide you the download (especially for products like SEP because this doesn't have activation). The same goes if you need a license key/file or if you want to get an upgrade. Getting technical support will also be twice as difficult.
The info regarding that product will only flow on our database once this has been registered.
If in case you lost your certificate, we can try tracking that if you have your invoice.
If your having difficulties with the registration, please call Customer Care.

Hi Hinata,
i need to ask a few questions. I need a response urgently.
I have a customer who has purchased Symantec multi tier protection 11.0 . i'm doing the SEP installation and deployment now. I'm having issues with some of the locations not caching the update contents on the GUP to be sent to the client machines.
Ibeleive the Full.zip file required whenever there is a new client on the network pointing to the GUP? New client machines are added to the branches and they are yet to pick any of the updates. Everytime the GUP for the branch restarts there are no delta files in the sharedupdates folder. A content revisioon of 42 was set. so that it will not delete any of the updates already downloaded to the management server.
How can you help?
Hi Nene!
Im sorry but your question is too technical for me. Im from the licensing department and I can only assist customers on how to get their license files but when it comes to the actual installation, I dont have any formal training on that.
Are you from Technical Support? If you really need assistance regarding the license file, please call Customer Care and we can forward you to a senior agent that might help you with your issue.

You're sure to receive a few responses if you post your question in the Endpoint Protection forums area. Although blogs are viewed by our users, the "foot traffic" or visitors to our forums area is incredibly high compared to other areas of the site.
Let us know if you continue to run into issues!

When I installed my new Antivirus 2010 Aug 13 & the 14 and it came to the Product Key, it had the old one in that block ( I had two days remaining), so I did all I could do to delete the old one and insert the new one,but it would not let me. So, I've waited til today, Aug 15, thinking I could register it, to no avail. have been everywhere but find no place to enter the Product Key! it is VWH7P-WKCCM-F87MX-86XPM-4P9C6. pLZ ADVISE
