Hi All,

In this blog you will get introduce to product Symantec System Recovery Linux  2013 and how to install it.

As product name describe this product is for Linux platform and complements Symantec System Recovery product available for Windows with all important features which user would require in any Backup and Recovery product.

Symantec System Recovery Linux henceforth in this blog will be called SSRL is a third release on Linux platform and have following features in it.

Virtual platforms:

 

SSR Linux can be run on an ESX/Esxi 4, ESX/Esxi 4.1, ESXi 5.0, ESXi 5.1, Windows Server 2008R2 Enterprise and Windows Server 2012 hypervisor virtual machine, provided the guest machine is running a mention above supported operating system.

 

File system support:  FAT16, FAT32, EXT2, EXT3,EXT4, ReiserFS and XFS

 

Easy steps to install SSRL on your machine.

 

                Step 1: Extract the gunzip file into local folder of the machine.

 

                 #  tar -xvzf    SSR_2013_SP1_RC_3.0.1_Linux_English_InstallOnly.tar.gz

                

                Step 2:  Run the installer  Symantec_System_Recovery.bin

   

                #  ./Symantec_System_Recovery.bin

 

                Step 3:  Accept License terms by pressing  ‘y’ on keyboard.

               

                   #  Do you accepts the terms of License Agreement? [y/N] :  y

 

                Step 4:    Install SRD creation utility and granular file recovery utility:  (optional) by pressing  ‘y’

                                on keyboard.

By following  these steps  you will see installation successfully complete.

To verify product is installed on your system you can execute following command:

             #symsr  –v
