I created a custom inventory in CMS 7 using powershell and it would not submit data for some reason.   I spoke with support and they said that powershell 1.0 does not support variant types and so cannot be used for custom inventory purposes.  Powershell 2.0 will support variant types but for now vbscript is the only option available.  Just a heads up.

I'd like to submit some data via the custom inventory DB from a .NET application (C# is my language of choice normally)...

Anyone have an example?

Powershell 2.0 has been released.  You can get it here: https://connect.microsoft.com/windowsmanagement/Downloads.

I have no C# examples.  Sorry.

Yes but the release candidate is the actual release for Windows XP, Vista, and 2003 Server.  Windows 7 and 2008 R2 server ship with powershell 2 as part of the OS.

Has anyone used powershell script with NS 7 custom inventory?  Would anyone like to share their experiencing using powershell with NS7.  I am looking to find sample of powershell script that has been used with NS7. I have very simple powershell I would like to use with NS7.

I have not done anything further with powershell yet.  I have found that a lot of our custom inventory information is now collected by default.
