It is Small Business Week here in the U.S., and time for outstanding small businesses to be recognized. Small businesses are the engines that power our economy and deserve recognition for everything they do that makes our country strong.
Traditionally, consumers tend to trust small business owners – whether it is the helpful pharmacist around the corner, or the owner of the sandwich shop down the street that will always greet you with a friendly hello. Unfortunately, consumers don’t always have that same trust when doing business online.
Consumers do not always know who is behind a website they are visiting and need confirmation that it is run by a legitimate business. One way to receive that confirmation is through a symbol or mark on the website itself, indicating that it is indeed safe. It is important for small businesses that have an online presence to have a trust mark, such as VeriSign’s Trust Seal, on their website. The VeriSign Trust Seal is designed to increase confidence, traffic and transactions for sites that do not require Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificates.
In addition, small businesses should consider deploying additional technologies that provides complete protection for themselves and their customers against malware and other threats. Technologies such as Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition, can have a big impact the success and survival of small businesses.
This is the week that we honor small businesses, and it is also a good time for businesses to more closely examine what they can do to benefit their customers and differentiate themselves from their competitors online. As more consumers seek out unique services from small businesses online, trust marks will play a stronger and more prominent role in establishing online relationships between individuals and entities.
