ITSM7.1 Interface Improvements - Create some Idea's

Dec 02, 2010 05:23 PM

Have had a few discussions with Symantec staff regarding the new product and its interface and this site is the best way for them to collate any info or ideas people have.

I highly reecommend if you have an idea you think may improve the product to search the group for existing ideas and vote on them, or add a new idea if there isn;t one there already.

Shane there some good ones in there! Do you have them listed in the Ideas section?

If you do, maybe you could edit your post with the link to them so we can vote?

1. Put the ip address of the computer at the top of the computer right click menu.

2. Add the ability to scroll through long lists (like v6 and v6.5).

3. Auto-size columns based on content so you can read what's there (like v6 and v6.5).

4. Add the package size somewhere on one of the tabs for a package in the sw catalog.

5. Add 'Update Configuration' to the computer right click menu.

6. Add the ability to copy directly from a report result or filter into excel (like v6 and v6.5).

7. Add solution-centric views (like v6 and v6.5).

8. Label the Task Server 'Task Server' instead of 'Jobs and Tasks'.

9. Add and support the ability to create Legacy SW Delivery type tasks.

10. Find a friendlier SQL Builder tool- this one is the pits.

And the people I spoke to indicated this was the best way for that. I regularly have a "chat" wink with our Account manager and TAM if I don't get any joy.

Although that said, it would also help us if Symantec would respond to these ideas and let us know if they're being considered or not.

There are some major ideas on improvement around bringing back the old clipboard copy icon and an icon in DS7.1 to let us know whether a PC in online or not....but there is no comment on these to say they will be looked at or not.

I'm all up for the ideas, i think its brilliant, but the communication needs to work both ways for it to flourish :-)
