I've Seen Your Face Before

ohzone's picture

Welcome to the Endpoint Management and Virtualization section of Symantec Connect! If you're coming to us from the former Juice site, things will look familiar. You'll see content you remember and users you remember. Think of this as a family reunion. Let me briefly introduce myself, I'm Cheryl Peterson - user name: ohzone - and my job is to manage and moderate the content in this section of the site. If you have any questions feel free to drop me a note and I'll do my best to answer them.

As with any family, there have been some changes. You'll notice some right away. The face lift. Wow, do we look different or what?! Content types have changed slightly but the functionality has pretty much remained the same. Submit your articles, blogs (what were once tips and heads ups) downloads, videos and forum questions. Participate in the site, help each other out, give us your opinions and you will be rewarded accordingly. Yes, there will still be rewards!

Take some time to explore the new Connect. Sure, it's different, but now we have a wealth of resources in one site. I hope you'll be back - often! Let me know if there are features you'd like to see added.

Hi Cheryl

Thank you for your welcoming words.

I admit that I was shocked to see the web design. I'll give it a try. But before I'll dive into it deeper I will give you some time to fix all the glices. The WOW gets very fast to an SOLALA. Please fix the dead links as fast as possible otherwise the usability is very low.

Anyway, good luck, I'll be back in a few days.

Ciao

Hi Cheryl,

Nice blog and web introduction as well.  What are "blogs"  can any user get a "blog" linked here?  Do we have specific RSS feeds for each blog?

To answer your quesion...

Sure jjesse! All blogs have an RSS feed - just type /feed after the url and hit return.

As for the "log in to participate" - sounds like a bug and I'm reporting it. Thanks! Keep pointing those odd behaviors out as you notice them. We're catching a bunch but an extra set of eyes is always helpful!

One more thing....

"Blogs" as we use the term here are short posts regarding tips or tricks that you've found helpful in your environment that you want to share with others - previously "tech tips and heads ups". If you wanted to link a personal blog you'd do that in your user profile.

Linking SVS

In the past I had a logo of SVS in my posts on other forums, to let other users know that I use SVS. Of cause I also earned points. Where do I have to redirect them now?

The old adress was:

http://juice.altiris.com/aff/xxxx/x

with an image at

http://juice.altiris.com/images/80x15.jpg

What are/will be the new link addresses?

Where is SVS?

If I'm a new user, where would I find the download for SVS? Not the packages, but the SVS software.

Even as a user who knows what he is looking for I can't find it......

Found it

Found it in the blog posts:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/svs-...

There is a link to www.getsvs.com.

But that one doesn't lead anywhere, just to the main connect page.

Another search

revealed that the GetSVS page is now:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/pages/get-...

or

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/node/86

I suggest, you'll make this as a link more prominent, so that new users will have an easier time to find SVS and get started.

Adding "Get SVS" to the List

Thanks toralf - We're working on getting that "Get SVS" button back.

Keep the input coming!

www and www-secure switching too much?!?

Is it just my settings or is everyone having to acknowledge both secure and insecure pages are being loaded constantly? The main page re-directs to a secure address then loads regualr http frames within it causing a notice for each one. My IE7 even killed itself on one article.

http vs https

Brandon,

That's a known issue and we're working on it!

Site

The site looks good. Just like anything new, trying to walk through some of the new layout took a little bit and getting use to being placed into the Endpoint group for a CMS user. But overall this looks good and is working for me.
